Confidence-building Curriculum
The Girls on the Run program is based on activities with specific functions to enhance the learning process.
Each meeting is structured as follows:
• Session begins with a "getting on board" and "warm-up" activity that brings the girls' focus on the day's topic
• The warm-up is followed by a stretching routine that allows for topic related question and answer time.
• During the workout period the girls participate in a variety of running activities that utilize a game or team goal.
• Cool down stretching is then combined with participant question and answer.
• Sessions close with positive words regarding individual and group behavior.
The curriculum encompasses the following 3 concepts:
• Weeks 1 to 4: Self-Care, Self-Awareness, Knowing Self
• Weeks 5 to 8: Connectedness: Selecting Healthy Relationships and Keeping Them Healthy
• Weeks 8 to 10: Empowerment: Celebrating and Sharing Our Strengths

SoleMates
Who are SoleMates?
SoleMates are adult men and women who support Girls on the Run programming by raising funds for our organization and completing an event of your choice. As our program participants are charged with a goal of running a 5K at the end of their 10-week session, so we ask our SoleMates to commit their time and energy to accomplish a fitness goal. Your goal may be a 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon, full marathon, triathlon, bike race, mud run or some other event.
This year our goal is for 25 runners and $5,000! One SoleMate, one mile, one dollar at a time until we reach our goal. 100% of the funds support girls in Greene County.

Why do you coach Girls on the Run?
"I love it so much and feel that these lessons are vital, surprisingly at the 3rd grade level most of all. These girls are surrounded by all of the scenarios that are presented in the GOTR lessons and really don't know the best way to handle a lot of the situations they face. These lessons teach them what to do and they actually USE what they learn to help them. It truly is amazing to see. Additionally, I have been a runner for 30 years and to bring my love of this sport to these girls, who are all so talented and have so much potential, is a great joy."
